From all at OCHRE to our wonderful friends and supporters, our Christmas story is from a very special young lady telling her story in her own words.

Sinead Bradley, you are our OCHRE Christmas Hero. Thank you, Kay and your family for your extraordinary efforts. We are so grateful for your words and for your support. May 2018 bring you joy.

Sponsored Walk for OCHRE by Sinead Bradley and Kay Walters

Sinead’s story

“I am 24 years old and I live in Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire.  I have become more aware of OCHRE as a result of my uncle Martin dying from oesophageal cancer in February 2017.  Along with my friend Kay, we carried out a sponsored walk in Edinburgh, the city where I attended the Royal Blind School between 2005 and 2011.  We walked 5.6 kilometres in 54 minutes.  Kay and I also attend a swimming club together every week and we have become good friends over the past few years.  We both believe this is a great charity and with Scotland unfortunately having a high incidence of this disease we think that more people should be aware of it.  Better education and awareness might help more people avoid the disease and its consequences and also lead to improved support for those affected by it.”
